xoops FACTORY

Starting with the first available variation of my theme xf_openweb, I made a static version which is centered and fixed width. This will be the next themedownload including static [x]HTML example files. The static example consists of 3 static pages with different blocksettings; left, left+right, none, to express some different (possible) blocksettings and combinations in our blockadministration.

I’m actually making a static example of a new layout which is a fixed width left aligned theme. Basically it is a theme that will fit 800*600 resolutions but with the possibility to activate a right block for eg. Adsense.

The right block is positioned absolute outside the 800*600 screen. Main content is first after Top menu in source so sreenreader and searchengines will love that themefile.

Since I started the new series of downloads of themes for our preferred content management system XOOPS in december 2005 there were 6000 downloads until today. I hope that you enjoy some of them, for there will be some more out of this box. Of course, I’m actually thinking about a new series of themes but I will talk about this later.

Here is a short list about the number of downloads, but that’s not a perfect view because the downloads started at different dates eg. the last theme download only 2 days ago.

eskport.com is a city portal from Turkey. The site based on xoops but uses html pages instead of xoops engine. There were some pages that have large tables not fitting in the template, so I made html pages and put my logo to the top of the page and linking back to main index. It was the easiest way for me. Content modules aren’t useable because my content doesn’t fit in the center. Editing the templates files makes it easy for google adsense. Take a look at the site eskport.com!

Beginning to learn html more than 15 years ago it was the time of texteditors. I was no friend of those and was happy to use my first wysiwyg editor some time later, that produced nice output by placing elements on the screen. Images were sliced and filled within tables which were nice to abuse for these positioning things. I was proud to show, what i’ve done, what was the result of my work and what was visible for those who are able to see. And that was ok for that time. …

xf_YelloW_C is ready for download. You should be a fan of colour Yellow to like this theme, but it is easy to modify this theme and change colours when you have some skills in editing css files and changing images to different colours, though. It is valid [x]HTML transitional and CSS.

xf_greenGrass is released today! It is a 2 column Layout with the main content coming first in source. The photo used in this theme was made by myself and you could use it without restrictions when you want.

The theme is able to display modules you want like forum eg. without any sideblock by settings in blockadministration of our preferred content management system. It’s clean, fast and simple and of course, valid W3C and CSS tested.

As said in the last article, i will beginn to release my themes additionally as a static version to make it easier to use it as static theme or within other cms and weblogs.

Another CSS varitation which i made in the last days and which is actually running on the demo site. All in all it’s the same source i’m using now a long time and which is running very fine.

What is a CSS theme?, i’m frequently asked. Saying “CSS theme” I mean, that it does not use tables for positioning things. But there are tables within the source! Yes there are! The theme itself does not use any tables. Content and layout is divided from each other in a cms. In the content, the outut of XOOPS, there are tables used to display “tabular data” (though still [sometimes] to position things).
