“Following a nomination round and eight weeks of voting, Packt are pleased to announce Joomla! as the winner of the 2006 Open Source Content Management System Award. Joomla! collects a first prize of $5,000 and the title of Packt Open Source CMS Award Winner for 2006.

The final result, as voted for by judges from The Open Source Collective, MySQL, the Eclipse Foundation, and 16,000 users on www.PacktPub.com saw a tie for first place between Joomla! and Drupal. In the event of a tie, a fourth independent judge would be brought in. This was Apoorv Durga who is a member of CM Pros and runs his own blog [http://apoorv.info/] on portals and content management. KuHTML! da better approach for communities? Haha! No! Actually it’s a test with searchengines, nothing more! I registered kuhtml.de domain on 06-11-06, the sixt november 2006, and began to use the word KuHTML in an article on my private homepage and to link to that domain with a PR6 site. Today, 6 days later, there are no new results on key kuhtml.

Right now, I placed a link from a sideblock of xoopsfactory’s startpage (which is actually a PR7) to kuhtml.de in order to see if searchengines will index the new site faster now.

Too much time? Bored? No! it is intended to have a one year view until the 6th november 2007, to see and report what will happen.

MyOttawa.ca is an online portal for the Ottawa, Canada area. Based on an installation of Xoops 2.0.15, the site is a showcase for many”Web 2.0″ features, such as the ability to add, comment on or suscribe to unique local content. Site users can submit their own news stories through a Street Reporter program, and earn real money from their articles. Using the smartsection module as a base from which to display user-submitted stories, Street reporters can earn money by displaying their own AdSense Ads and accepting PayPay tips.

Here we are with the voting for the XOOPS Site of the month contest October 2006. For we decided to make it available only after registration on this site, we want to make it a bit more interesting for those who will take some minutes, visit the nominated sites and fill out the voting form. From all submissions we will determine 2 by coincidence which will get a link from our startpage (which is actually a PR7) to their website (which is in their profile) for four weeks. So remember to keep your profiles up to date.
