The Results January 2006
XOOPS Sites: Here we are with the results of January 2006. Not as much votings as we have seen in the last months, but therefore we got not as much spam as we have seen before.
In the comming months i will continue to look for people who want to help reviewing sites and i’m still thinking how to categorize the voting into groups such as “best design”, “best community” and “best content” etc.
With more than 50% of all votings, the winner of month january is:
“… The (German speaking) website dslnachpankow.de is essential for the public campaigning process for broadband in Pankow, the largest district of the German capital Berlin.
While cutting-edge telecommunication and multimedia technologies are widespread in the German capital there are parts of the city that still have to use 56K modems and ISDN connecting to the internet.
The main reason lies in modernizing almost the complete obsolete telecommunication network of former East Germany by using fibre optic cables in the early 1990s.
As is generally known Internet connectivity is having a profound impact on individuals and business. Some 150.000 citizens and businesses are affected by narrowband in Pankow.
The campaigning process is a success story: Starting in April 2005 DSLnachPankow achieved the roll out and/or faster implementation of new broadband infrastructures such as ADSL2+, WiMAX, DSL via fibre optic cables and VDSL.
However there are still large parts of the district demanding broadband. Hence DSLnachPankow still has a lot of work to do in 2006 by the help of the Xoops based website as a shared resource for analysis, information and discussion…”

It made and still makes it possible for the people to exchange their knowledge, opinion and what is actually most important: it helped Pankow out of its misery, for there was no broadband internet available before. I thank the initiative and its inittiators very much for their confidence, braveness and effort…”
The second place shared by 2 sites getting 10 votes each:
