Tools that will make your life easier
Of course not, not in general … As a mobile web worker I had my problems in the past. When you are forced to work on different workstations you will know these problems. Remember the situation you can’t catch a LAN or WLAN hotspot for your notebook or a meeting wasn’t thought to be a working meeting but you need to have access to your, your friends or your clients website with tools you are used to work with, or accounts data you could not have in mind.
Normally I do not need more than a text-editor, putty and a small ftp-client to solve most of events but in this situation, now, right now, you are sitting on a machine without YOUR normal environment. No editor, no ftp, nothing but boring office software or games …

Who needs this? Of course, visiting portableapps.com you will find many tools which are useful for other people, not only webdesigner or webworker. Portable Freeware is another good adress in this topic. No need to install this software on a system. Carry them on your usb, mobile HD or CD/DVD.
btw. backup your portable, as you would do with your normal environment.
