XOOPS Site of the Month

GIVE YOUR VIRTUAL VOICE A VOTE

Beginning in August 2005, XoopsFactory.com is organizing the "Xoops Site of the Month" contest. We intiated the contest in the way described below, but with your feedback and comments we hope to improve it over the coming months. Therefore ... any help, comments or suggestions are WELCOME!

It will be your nominations that determine which sites will provide the list of sites that will be voted on. And it will be your votes that will decide which site becomes "Xoops Site of the Month".

Two steps = Nomination and Voting

The monthly contest is structured in two parts. The Nomination process and the Voting process.

Nomination - How to submit my nomination?

Each month we will collect YOUR nominations for the "Xoops Site of the Month" contest. To do so, please use our NominationSubmitform and select the actual month to submit your nomination. Tell us ... the URL of the site you are nominating, and explain in a few short sentences WHY you feel the site should be the "Xoops Site of the Month". Is it the theme? Is it the content? Is it the service provided? Or is it some other reason the site has become one of your Favourites?

You can submit any URL which is running XOOPS in any version. The site does not have to be listed on XoopsFactory's News or webLink sections in order for it to qualify for nomination. NO registration on XoopsFactory is required to submit a nomination.

Voting - How and When can I vote?

Beginning on the 8th of each month, you will find our VOTINGform with a list of all the nominated sites submitted during the previous month. In order to vote ... you MUST register as a member on this site. This is to ensure accuracy in the voting process. The VOTINGform will be online for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks of voting is completed, the votes will be tallied and the winner of the "Xoops Site of the Month" will be announced at the end of the month.

An example of how the contest will operate. During August, people will NOMINATE their chosen Xoops site. September 1st to 7th ... the list of nominated sites will be compiled and the webmasters of each nominated site will be contacted. September 8th to 22nd ... VOTING will be opened up so you may choose which of the "nominated + verified" sites you feel deserves the "Xoops Site of the Month" Award. After this ... the votes will be tallied and on September 30th the WINNER of the "Xoops Site of the Month" will be announced.

Award

We do not have the power to sponsor big awards actually and we are looking for some sponsorships but we could not promise anything yet. Presently, the winner of the "Xoops Site of the Month" contest will get

• his own place in the category "xoops-site-of-the-month" on XOOPSfactory
• a "xoops-site-of-the-month" button
• a footerlink on XOOPSfactory

We are currently seeking Sponsorships for the contest, so hopefully in the future we can offer somewhat grander prizes. After speaking with Herko (XOOPS.org Project Manager), there is a possibility that each Current "Xoops Site of the Month" winner could be listed in a sideblock on Xoops.org, which would provide a link to the winners web site.
